Exploring the Benefits of PEMF Therapy: How PEMF Can Effectively Manage Pain
How often do you hear phrases implying that once you hit 30, your life will inevitably be fraught with injury after injury. Things like “I threw my back out putting on my pants this morning” or “I got ANOTHER new pillow because my neck still hurts every morning”...
The truth is pain limits our day to day lives and most people work around it without even thinking twice. It’s normal right?
Sometimes pain is so insidious you don’t even realize you are living your life making compromise after compromise just to accommodate your chronic aches and ailments. It can be as simple as changing places or positions throughout the work day because this chair starts to hurt my back but then standing aggravates my knee… or it can be extremely obvious like opting out of riding your bike to the farmer’s market because your body is holding you back.
More than 50 million Americans have chronic pain and greater than 25 million Americans will experience acute pain within the year. Despite this astounding frequency, pain is considered to be inadequately treated by most who experience it. There aren’t many people who can say they’ve never experienced pain. In fact, if you did, most would assume you were lying. Pain is just something we are all inevitably expected to “deal with” or find ways of pushing through.
The current culture doesn’t help, we want a quick fix so the medical establishment tends to throw medication and invasive surgical interventions at their patients which more often than not simply leads to more medications and more invasive procedures. Ultimately, if you want to get rid of pain once and for all, you have to eliminate the SOURCE of the pain and CORRECT the underlying issue. Alternative modalities like exercise, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture and the modalities we offer at Cryo Method can work hand in hand with traditional western medicine. Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) is a holistic, non-invasive, user-focused approach to pain control. PEMF therapy treats the body from the cellular level by providing the raw material (energy) that is crucial for the body to regulate and heal itself. In other words, PEMF addresses your pain from its origin, within the cell.
“Our entire biological system, the brain, and the earth itself work on the same frequencies.” -Nikola Tesla
So HOW can PEMF help manage my pain?
Energy is electromagnetic in nature. In fact, many bodily functions depend on the electromagnetic current maintained throughout your cells. From the contraction of a whole muscle, the messaging from one nerve cell to another, to the elimination of waste and uptake of nutrients across a cell membrane, your life itself depends on electromagnetic energy.
Imagine your body as a battery – life stressors (and pleasures) such as imperfect sleep, dietary indiscretions and emotional burdens slowly drain your “battery” and therefore, its ability to function optimally. That’s where PEMF technology comes in! It re-establishes the electromagnetic balance amongst your cells effectively restoring your internal battery. Electromagnetic energy is a completely natural way of providing energy giving your body the boost it needs after everyday life inevitably takes its toll.
Bottom line is, if our cells are not healthy, YOU are not healthy. And pain is just one way your body tells you things are not functioning optimally. Your body knows how to heal, it just needs the resources to do so.
What will my treatment plan look like?
Cryo Method utilizes the Pulsed Centers PEMF bed and accessories to deliver the most cutting-edge technology for our customers. You can expect a comfortable, personalized and relaxing 40 minute session on our state-of-the-art PEMF bed.
The PEMF bed can be used for general health, targeting the body as a whole, allowing your body to absorb the energy in the areas that need recovery the most. Or we can use various attachments such as rings, paddles and pads to more precisely target problem areas. For example if you have a sprained ankle, the rings can be wrapped around the ankle to direct a higher intensity treatment to encourage healing in a specific body part. Most commonly, PEMF is used to manage musculoskeletal disorders such as arthritis, tendinitis, sprains, fractures, post-operative pain/healing, osteoporosis, wounds, neuralgias, neuropathies, muscle spasms, heel spurs, phantom pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, tennis elbow and so on.
PEMF is excellent for preventative care and for that reason, we recommend continuing whole bed treatments indefinitely, following a schedule that works for you. But if specific injuries or areas of pain are being treated, the length of recommended treatment regimens can vary. Long term issues or severe injuries will require longer treatment regimens as there is likely greater internal healing required. A rule of thumb is to continue treatments for twice as long as it took to feel the results you were looking for i.e. if you feel significant relief in 3 weeks of consistent treatments, you should continue these treatments for a minimum of 6 weeks to ensure the underlying issue has been fully resolved on the cellular level. However, chronic pain from diagnosis’ such as arthritis, lumbar stenosis, failed surgeries, etc. is not expected to be fully cured because the underlying chronic problem is structural and can’t be fixed. Because of this, treatment may be required indefinitely to maintain relief. In these cases, PEMF is a helpful tool for providing much needed, safe and effective pain relief.
10 Ways PEMF Therapy May Benefit You:
Reduce inflammation: PEMF therapy can reduce inflammation, which can help alleviate pain caused by injuries, arthritis, and other conditions.
Promote healing: PEMF therapy stimulates cellular repair and regeneration, promoting faster healing and reducing pain associated with injuries and surgeries.
Increase circulation: PEMF therapy improves circulation and blood flow, which can help reduce pain associated with poor circulation and conditions such as neuropathy.
Relax muscles: PEMF therapy helps relax muscles and reduce muscle tension, which can alleviate pain caused by muscle strains, spasms, and other conditions.
Alleviate back pain: PEMF therapy may be effective in treating back pain, including chronic back pain caused by conditions such as herniated discs and spinal stenosis.
Improve range of motion: PEMF therapy improves joint mobility and flexibility, which can reduce pain caused by conditions such as osteoarthritis.
Enhance bone healing: PEMF therapy stimulates bone growth and healing, which can reduce pain associated with fractures, osteoporosis, and other bone-related conditions.
Improve sleep: PEMF therapy helps promote deeper and more restful sleep, which can reduce pain associated with sleep disturbances and chronic fatigue.
Alleviate headaches: PEMF therapy helps alleviate headaches and migraines, which can be caused by tension, inflammation, and poor circulation.
Reduce nerve pain: PEMF therapy helps reduce pain associated with nerve damage and neuropathy, which can be caused by conditions such as diabetes, chemotherapy, and spinal cord injuries.
If your cells function at their best, you can live life to the fullest again.
